Sam Mattis and Sean Donnelly bring their elite knowledge and expertise to Throws Chat and share tips for preparing for competition in the throws.
Mattis is an elite discus thrower touting a PR of 67.45m. He currently trains as a Garage Strength athlete under Dane Miller. Mattis competed in the 2016 US Olympic Trials and earned a ninth place finish in the final round. During his illustrious career as a collegiate athlete for the University of Pennsylvania, Mattis was a four-time Ivy League Outdoor Champion and 2015 NCAA National Champion in the discus throw.
Donnelly is a professional hammer thrower for Ironwood TC with a PR of 74.35m. Handling his own training and programming, Donnelly also finished ninth at the 2016 US Olympic Trials with a throw of 68.96m. Throughout his collegiate career, he has accumulated eight NCAA DIII All-American titles, along with four NCAA DIII National Champion titles. Donnelly currently holds the NCAA DIII weight throw record at 21.75m.
